I have read every one of Connie Mason's books and this one was a big let-down because it wasn't written by her.

Ms. Mason has written several books based on the Victorian and Medieval eras and she never accented her dialogue. This book takes place in Scotland and the dialogue is all spoken with a Scottish accent, which for me, was very hard to understand. Also, I found the book very hard to get into at first. The plot was different from Connie Mason's other works. The romantic parts were not Ms. Mason's usual writing style either. That's when I suspected the book was written by her writing partner, Mia Marlowe.

If Ms. Mason continues to collaborate with Ms. Marlowe, I hope the stories improve. It would be nice for the books to start being the ones Ms. Mason used to write by herself.
This is the 2nd book that I've read by Connie Mason. The first one that I read was written by her alone called Taste of Paradise and that I would give 5 stars. If you like man kidnapping woman on horseback and adventure stories you'll like this. But the book lacked more of a good storyline for me. Chapters and chapters detail their running from the man she was assigned to marry, this gets tiring. You know that it will end happily ever after. I, like another reviewer did not like the scottish words throughout the book, canna have, din, ye dinna etc.
This could have been a fantastic, exciting, fast paced, can't put it down book if the entire middle of the book wasn't completely sex. 5 stars if that is all you want to read. Sorry I don't. The book started fantastic and ended alright but the whole entire middle of the book was graphic sex. I kept reading and reading and waiting for more STORY----ALAS, none. More sex scenes. But WOW the opening kept me going and then blah blah blah, but then sex always sells.
I give you a 5 star for the opening Connie and 3 for the ending.
