One of the worst books that I have read by this author. The main character is annoying and the plot is completely unbelievable.
Reads like a warped fairy tale about a stupid woman who gets dragged, complaining, into an unrealistic adventure with a real nutcase of a billionaire. She could walk away at any point, but she would apparently prefer to bitch and moan about her involvement. It's forced humor bordering on the grotesque, a silly plot, and shallow characters. I wish I could get my money back. It's not the least funny or even amusing. What has happened to one of my favorite authors? Her first series and Metro Girl were fantastic. This book, however, was a pathetic attempt to be funny, and it failed miserably.
It wasn't my favorite. A few times I couldn't remember what I had just read and had to reread the chapter. This is the first time this has happened to me with a Janet E. book. I wont read this series if another is put out. I didn't care about the main characters at all. The zoo animals at the house and his aunt were my favorite characters...if that tells you anything. Dry and uninteresting. Not a must read for me.
This may be a Phil Sutton novel but it does not feel like a typical Janet Evanovich. It has improper events and strange characters. However it lacks the light hearted feel that marks her work. The main character is not the semi-incompetent anti-heroine I am used to. Not a bad book -- just a bit disappointing.
I really wanted to love this book but in the end the story was just okay. Not once did I laugh out loud. The characters had so much potential yet for the most part they failed to engage the reader. I did not hate the story but neither did I love it.....
I've been a longtime fan of the Stephanie Plum series - even though some of the characters and situations were broadly drawn. They always gave me a good laugh! But I feel these characters and situations in Curious Minds were so outlandish that it made it hard for me to finish the book. If I hadn't paid some much for it, I usually wait until the price goes down to buy, I wouldn't have finished it. Very disappointing - I was really looking forward to a new book from Janet Evanovich. Shallow, underdeveloped characters and totally unbelievable plot and situations!
I usually love Janet's books, but not this one. I thought Emerson Knight was the dumbest hero she has ever invented. No one could be so smart yet so stupid. I wanted to do him in myself after a couple of chapters. Too bad the bad guys didn't get that privilege.
